Energy Policy Issue
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, Senator Domenici is leading the charge for a balanced, comprehensive national energy plan. His committee this spring marked up and approved S. 14, The Energy Policy Act of 2003 and the full Senate has taken up the bill.
The legislation increases America's production of her own energy in clean, environmentally-friendly ways. The bill diversifies America's energy supply, stimulates the economy and creates more than 500,000 jobs. It takes strong steps to address the pending natural gas crisis.
The bill increases production of all energies: wind, solar, oil, gas, geothermal, nuclear, clean coal, and biomass energies. It also invests in America's hydrogen future, investing in the development of both stationary and mobile hydrogen energy.
Domenici's legislation will also modernize and stabilize the electricity industry, providing more protection to consumers and cracking down hard on market manipulation while limiting the federal government's ability to meddle in regional electricity markets that successfully serve businesses and consumers.
The Energy Policy Act of 2003 protects our environment, address the natural gas crisis by diversifying our energy supply and creating badly-needed American jobs.
